Universal charger for mobile phones presented
The first European mobile phone universal charger will be available within a few months. That became clear yesterday when Commissioner Antonio Tajani the first instance in Brussels took receipt.
It has been almost two years since the European Commission’s major phone manufacturers like Apple, Nokia, Motorola and RIM had reached agreement on a universal connector for mobile phones in Europe. Partly at the urging of VVD MEP Toine Manders is the arrival time of this pushed through.
While in 2009 the knot on these micro-USB connector had been cut last a long time remained silent. CEN, CENELEC and ETSI, organizations preparing for this transition had to adjust, in December 2010 was therefore finally given the green light for major surgery, and now let the first charger therefore see.
Voluntary agreement
The ten largest mobile phone manufacturers signed a voluntary agreement to all soon with the universal connector to work. This allows the consumer to prevent chaos leads not only the environment but will also be spared because old chargers not purchased any new equipment will be discarded.
