Samsung unveils flexible AMOLED display

Samsung Mobile Display announced today at the FPD International 2010, a new 4.5-inch flexible AMOLED screen is explained. The manufacturer said he plans to have this display actually in production.
The flexible AMOLED display has a WVGA resolution (800 x 480 pixels) and Samsung Mobile Display says it has a very high reaction rate as well as low power consumption. In addition, the ghosting on the flexible display to a minimum.
Samsung Mobile has announced that they display the AMOLED display any layer of glass, but that is chosen for a special kind of plastic. This would not only make the screen easier to bend, even a higher resolution is thus possible according to the manufacturer.
Mass production
“This is a big step towards the mass production of flexible AMOLED displays in the near future,” said Samsung Mobile Display during the presentation of the screen. How their new Samsung product in practice want to implement, however, remains a little unclear.
