Beautiful multifunctional
I thought I now knew what I could expect an HP printer: pretty good, pretty fast, but with a design to run away screaming. While rivals Canon and Epson printers already without hesitation that you can place in a living room, stood at HP design at the bottom of the priority list.
When I unpacked the Envy 100, I immediately looked surprised, I was convinced that I accidentally had unpacked a hi-fi equipment that was destined for the audio editors. Not so: the Envy 100 is indeed a multifunctional device, but one in ultra-compact housing (43 x 33 x 10 cm). Slight disadvantage of that size is that the paper only accommodate eighty sheets.
Color control
The second surprise was the control panel. HP, I expect a button for each function, and a multifunctional button for a color copy and one in black and white copy. The Envy 100 has no buttons.
You control the device via a touch-sensitive panel on the front. When I plug in the mains plug, a light on that panel power button. When I press them, the control comes to life. Colored symbols indicate me the way to the various functions of the device.
The Envy 100 includes a USB connector, but I would prefer the built-in wireless network. That is really easy. From the menu choose my home network, enter the WPA security key and ready. The printer that way in your wireless network to post, he also access the Internet.
And that is necessary for a number of additional tricks that this device can. It is possible to print documents from your PC to the email address of the printer, send, the mail and attachments are printed automatically.
Printing with apps
Even better are the ‘apps’. Do not expect you to play Angry Birds Envy 100, HP understands this app under a source of print-ready material. Currently it can these apps include sudoku, mazes, musical notes and checklists paper.
You can also posters and other fun from movie studios like DreamWorks and Disney print, or short guides. I print off from Brussels, and it appears thirteen pages long, including six for a plan with a list of street names in Dutch and French.
Fortunately press the HP Envy 100 standard double sided, or else I was angry about something so much waste paper. Because that is central to the course for those apps: the more you print, the better it is HP.
The Envy 100 is one of the few printers that you can print an iPad or iPhone through the AirPrint feature in IOS 4.2. That goes smoothly, but the print quality of photos is awful. Since they have an engineer at HP again to turn.
